Derek Atter writes: I used the SPID rotator on a number of /P expeditions on 10GHz with an 80cm dish working up to 400km+ where pointing accuracy is all important and also low backlash. It is ideal for /P since it uses DC and is very flexible on its supply voltage.
It was also used to good effect on top of a 80ft Versatower to carry a 88 element stack for 23cm on VHF NFD 2006 last July by the Crawley and Reigate Club team in Suffolk making our highest score ever on that band making 50,000 points just behind the band leaders G3VHF Contest Group in the open section. We worked out to 920km to SM and OZ. If you care to look at the contest section of the Crawley Club website at www.carc.org.uk where there are pictures of the antenna system and also a link to a recording clip made by DM2A at 860 km of our CW QSO with them down by the Czech border.
